Info needed as my minds gone totally blank!
Should horn wiring have a constant live to it?
I've been adding lights and now a Denali soundbomb, but confused by the constant live.
any help or ridiculing would be a great help..
Thanks

A horn is normally on a switched 12V supply (so live when you press the button). They have a permanent earth or negative connection via their body.

Yes,the horn has a permanent 12volt pos.supply when the ignition is ON.When you press the horn button it earths the horn, that's why you have to be careful if you add a relay to power better horns.Well it is on my L2.

Since you are installing a Denali soundbomb, I suggest if not yet done so, that you consider wiring up the new horn via a relay as shown in the diagram of
https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=21326.0
The OE horn wiring, fuse ampre and the horn activating button may be too light to carry the load of the new horn, hence the relay.

Apologies yes, have just looked and they are two wire with permanent positive feed. The negative is switched on and off using the switch.

ianmc and sjrainsford - that's an odd one regarding a permanent live to the horn, I looked on the 1000K4 Haynes wiring diagram and that's definitely a switched live but the gen 2 650 Haynes wiring diagram shows a switched negative (permanent +12V to the horn with the ignition on).
