« on: July 28, 2023, 20:18:15 »
I’m considering a 17 on V Strom 1000,any bad points to look out for?
Are they as comfortable as the 650.
Thanks.

I have a 2014, so similar to the 17. Its been a great old bike, 42k now, nothing has gone wrong. Cheap to run also, good mpg, easy to service, good brakes and OK suspension. Only down point is tyre life on the rear but I like the torque to much!
I would say the 650 is more comfortable, especially the 2012-2016 model. The 1000 has a horrible seat and screen which needs changing and it has a bit of weight plus runs a bit lumpy at low revs which the 650 doesn't.
I keep thinking about changing to a 650 but every time I ride the 1000 I think this will do awhile yet.

The thing with comfort and aero is that they're both very personal things.
You really need to try one for a decent test ride if you can.
I've had my 2014 650 rolling road tuned and it's a different animal now.  It's not a 1000 by any means, but it certainly goes!

Thanks, you are right. I did try the 650 for a few hours and found it comfortable.
The 1050 2 piece seat feels hard and narrow so I’m thinking 1000 V Strom is an option maybe.
