Rear suspension travel.
« on: August 01, 2023, 01:44:04 »
2016 650 XT. Am I right in thinking that the rear suspension travel is about 6.3" and if right is that measurement taken at the rear wheel spindle? If I am a mile off does anyone know how far up the rear wheel spindle goes from parked on it's wheels to the bump stop? Would rather not start stripping it down to find the answer if someone knows the answer.

On my ,22 it is 150 mm front ,160 mm rear.
12 onwards are the same I think.
That 160 is total ,so from wheel off the ground at full extension to bottoming out.
If your sag is about right at 15%/24mm static (just the bike,no luggage etc) you should have 136mm of travel left when the bike is on its wheels and upright.
Laden sag (you on the bike in full riding gear) at 30%/48mm will leave 112 mm of travel left.
All assuming the spring on the bike is suitable for your weight.
Measured at spindle.
It will hit the bump stop about 10 mm before bottoming out completely but set up using full range of 160mm
