From memory the headlight unit is attached to the front cowel and can be removed complete by removing maybe 4 or 6 screws that holds it all to the main stay / frame.

All this can be done after removing the two side panels inner clock surround and screen mount.

Also, depending on what crash bars you have , they may need to be removed in order to remove your side panels.

While it's all apart, you may want to take the opportunity to clean up and paint the main frame / stay as they tend to rust.

While not a Vee, a thread that may be of interest that contain some pix on the front end tupperware removal, http://www.DL650.org/photos/pbsoluces/judas/tetedefourche/index.html.
Once the crown / cowl framework has been removed, you should be able to work out how to unbolt the physical headlight casing.  Also have a look at parts list, https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/Suzuki/motorcycle/2005/v-strom-DL1000/headlamp
Though I have not yet attempted to remove the cowling a complete unit, I under stand from https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,10932.0.html, that it can be done.  I prefer the long method and snap pix to help with the reassembly.
And the steps wrt the fuel tank removal, https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php?topic=7566.0

How far is it from Bedfordshire to Saffffffff London? Kwackboy seems to know exactly what to do and with the help of Gert, it should be sorted in no time.  :thumb:
