VStrom 250.

A new oil cooled 250 on the block.
I believe it's made in India but is already released in NZ.
Don't know if it'll be coming here.

If it's build quality is good, I think it will sell well as a good commuter and fun at the weekend.  :thumb:

A few reviews seem to mention harsh ride quality. Apparently the suspension is a direct carry-over from the sporty GSX bike which probably explains that.
If you want a little 250 to potter about on I highly recommend the GW250 on which the first VStrom 250 was based. Nice ones can be picked up privately for sub £1500 privately. Although only a 250, they are a full size bike and give a refined ride.

For me it is the highway top end speed that would be the limiting factor.
I had the same issue with my Honda CBX 250, that without a sprocket change, was limited to 110 km/hr on highways while the rest of the traffic were at the 120 km/hr speed limit.
Some other 250cc road bikes like the Kawaski could reach 140 km/hr plus.   I do understand the barn door effect / drag on the taller bikes, but with modern technology I expected more from the DL250.

If you have to cruise at over 110Km/hr for prolonged periods then a 250 of any type is not really suitable. The quarter litre bikes are for touring on the minor roads at lower speeds. There is a lot to be said for a ‘plodding’ tour on the smaller roads. Chill and enjoy the scenery.

I guess that I was expecting the newer DL250 to at least be able to ride at the normal highway speed limits of each country in which the DL250 is sold.
Have a look at the listed top speed listed of Kawasaki 250cc Ninja, https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/kawasaki/kawasaki_ninja_250r.htm.  I was surpired at the performance of this little machine. It kept up with my 1st gen Wee whin riding at highway speeds.
Before I sold my little CBX 250 Twister, I searched for readily available sprockets to try for better highway speeds, but sadly that was not to be.
