Vacuum line size DL1000, removing scotoiler
« on: February 20, 2023, 05:25:43 »
Hi. I am removing my messy scotoiler and installing pdoiler. Need to close vacuum line using straight connector. Can someone tell me the size of the vacuum tube in DL1000?? On scotoiler website there are sizes: 4, 6, 8mm for the connectors. Which one I need to buy?

I cut the tube on mine leaving about 25mm "stub" then wound a small bolt in to block the tube.

Can you measure the Scottoiler connector you're removing?

I rejoined mine on my 650 (properly, it had a screw in the 3 way before) and it took a 4mm barbed joiner, £1.50 on eBay. I tried a 6, and although I probably could have made it fit, the 4mm was the correct size.

A search for "STRAIGHT Reducer JOINER TUBING PLASTIC BARBED CONNECTOR" should find you something suitable

The factory fitted vacuum elbow from Scotttoiler is black so I think that makes it 4mm I also ran vacuum tails from my throttle bodies to make balancing easier and that was 4mm hose as well.

Where the vacuum lines are located? Which side?

Do you mean where on the bike will the Scottoiler line be connected for you to remove it? Or where are the factory vacuum lines for the bike as original?

Each throttle body has 2 small brass stubs on which are vacuum take off points. The 2 pairs both point in towards the centre of the V between the cylinders. The front ones can be seen (and just about reached) by lying on your back on the generator side of the bike and looking up between the cylinders. Assuming your bike is otherwise standard and the installer took the easiest option, the Scottoiler vacuum line will be connected to the stub nearest you on the generator side, the clutch side stub will have a hose connected which goes to the charcoal canister and should be left in place. You may need to twist the rubber elbow to get it to come loose but be gentle as you don't want to damage the take off stub.
You should see something very similar to the image below taken from the Scottoiler knowledge base.

In case it's any help, here is a wider shot for context. Your vacuum line will most likely be attached where the blue hose is on my bike.

Is it not going to be easier for me to just cut the vacuum tube coming out of scotoiler and seal it??

I guess so but reaching the vacuum elbow and removing completely isn't all that difficult, think of it as a few grams weight saving, MotoGP teams would spend millions for that  :icon_wink:

If removing the line involves lifting the tank then I will give up and do what I just said. Not worth the haslle 😁

Just leave a foot of pipe in place as it will be handy if you ever decide to check the throttle balance, you will only have to fit 1 other pipe.

I wouldn't use the Scottoiler tube to balance throttle bodies, it's very small bore and the 2 tubes want to be exactly the same.
If you do have the tank and airbox off at any point though then definitely run extension lines for balancing in future.

Scotoiler removed, Pdoiler installed. Such a a difference!! Thin film of oil on the chain and zero oil on the wheel. Recommended.
