« on: October 31, 2022, 16:39:21 »
Hello blokes & Gals,

Not interested in going for HID, but wondered if there where any aftermarket bulbs which are better than standard and will also still pass MOT, suggestions welcome thanks in anticipation.

I run Osram night breaker laser bulbs in car and bike and they are far brighter and whiter than standard. They've lasted over 3 years (8,500 miles) so far. Always been happy with their bulbs.

Thank you for your quick comment, as while I want something brighter, I also want something that will last more than 6 months so your recommendations looks and sound great ... Cheers Al

Osram Night Racer are supposed to be designed to combat the vibration from motorcycles & last longer.
I had the night Breakers in but two packed in within months of fitting them, the Night Racers I have in now have been there for around two years. (that's buggered them now though!! )

I've put Osram Night Racers in my 2015 650 and they are way better than standard. Main beam is almost better than my car! They were only about £25 from Amazon for a twin pack too.

My MOT tester doesn't normally bother with the proper headlamp tester, but when I told him I'd fitted the nightbreaker bulbs he tested them on his machine and said they were fine. I found the nightbreakers give a whiter light that goes further than the stock bulbs.

No matter how many corners you get always stay on the straight and narrow.

Yes, they are 55watt the same as a 'standard' halogen bulb.

As Mick says, they are road legal.

As long as the beam conforms to MOT standards you're fine, that goes for LEDs also.

Osram night Breakers have been replaces with the Night Racer range.

As far as legal is concerned, yes and no.
They do some 100w versions which should be avoided incase they melt the reflector/surround and won't be road legal.
The 55w or 55/60w depending on what fitment you require are fine and road legal.
