Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom 2005-2007 Side Stand Extension
« on: February 01, 2023, 22:24:05 »
Struggling to find a Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom 2005-2007 Side Stand Extension , however even loads of DL650 ones.

So the question do both bikes have the same deign side stand, so I could use the 650 variant for my 1000?

Thanks in anticipation

I have one of these;

They post to the UK and the parts are well made from stainless steel. If you have a centre stand then it won't work as designed and I had to reshape mine. Without a centre stand it should work fine.

There's also this one which I looked at and seems like it might clear both exhaust and centre stand. It looks kind of gnarly but might be worth a punt if the shipping isn't too brutal.

Nice looking stuff, just bought a a side stand extension foot for my bike. Once fitted I will post feedback, hopefully all good as not a bad price (£3.75 postage from Poland).

Have you considered going the DIY route? Basically a foot print enlargement plate can either held in place by welding or by drilled then using metal screws / bolts locked in place with a nyloc nut. If you intend welding the plate to the side stand, take time to read the advice in reply #1 of https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,6662.0.html. It could save you some unecessary expense on the ECU and maybe ABS
To me, the link that I posted in my reply #12 of https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=41878, explains the process and can be applied to any of the V-Strom models.
Granted, a slight modification may be required, if you have a ceter stand fitted. Often the shape of the side stand foot print will touch a center stand, which may require a small clearance to be file into the new side stand plate.

Out of pure curiosity I've ordered the Advalp one as well since it was a whole £24 posted. I'll report on how well it fits/works once it arrives.
From the blokes website, it appears he rides or at some point did ride a DL1000 himself so he clearly has taste :)

     I simply cut a piece of aluminium plate to size and to miss the centre stand, and then put it under the stand and drilled 2 small holes through the stand and plate, then bolted them together, job done for just a few pence.
