Fog Lights.
« on: December 04, 2022, 11:00:06 »
I have often wondered (especially when riding in fog) why motorcycles don't have fog lights. It seems strange that cars have at least two rear lights as apposed to only one on a motorbike but cars have to have a fog light but bikes don't.

Does anybody know a logical answer to what seems to be ridiculous to me?
Without rain, there would be no rainbows.

As far as I understand it's just slipped through the construction & use regulations. Nothing to stop you having one, but it's not a legal requirement to have one. I agree, it's a bit odd really.

+1 for 2112

If you do install one, make sure it's well away from you brake light(s) or you may fall foul of the MOT examiner.

I remember some fitting one to a v-strom a couple of years back - right at the bottom of the rear mudflap.

They used one of those cheap fog lights from Halfords mounted with the super flimsy mild steel bracket - It looked like it belonged on a 1988 Vauxhall Astra  lol

The muppets in tin boxes can’t see us in daylight when we have lights on so I guess the regulators figured rear fog lights wouldn’t make any difference  :old:

It's more likely that they don't give hoot what happens to us and their concern would be that a very bright rear light might blind their speed cameras and we might get away with something.  :icon_wink:
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.
