V-strom 250 alternator output
« on: November 22, 2022, 15:12:52 »
Can anyone confirm the alternator output on the 250? I think it might be 350W.
If so that would mean even with all the lights on, hazards, brake lights and standing on the horn I'd still have plenty left to run heated grips and a heated jacket - 13amps max. Yes, I am a wimp!!!!

I don't know what it is on the 250 but that 350 watts will be the total output I would imagine. It's what's left after the running of the bike has taken up its share is what you need.
Have you got the heated jacket yet? If so connect a volt meter and the heated jacket (plus heated grips), if it's running at 13.8 volts+ then you'll be fine.
But have a read of this, it's what I did to see if I could run two heated jackets on my 650.

 :welcome2: ..

Your 250 will easily run a pair of heated grips .

Make sure you wire them in via the ignition so when it's off, the grips turn off also.  :thumb:

:thumb: Thanks all. I have a Gerbing heated jacket and will get Oxford grips. I have the heated grips on my other bikes and the voltage sensing regulator within them means you can connect direct to the battery with no worries. Easy to wire and they've never misbehaved over many years of use.
