V-Strom 250 videos
« on: November 04, 2022, 22:09:17 »
I've watched three vids about the mini Strom and linked one of them here for general info/interest.

He's Sergeant Magi it confused me at first because he's a northerner riding on the lhs but speeds are in kmh. Turns out he's emmigrated to OZ and that's where he made the vids.

I enjoyed his presentations and learned a lot about the 250. Just a couple of spoilers (stop reading here if you don't want to see).

Enjoy his work!

It's a very usable daily ride bike but only cruises comfortably at 100kph or a touch over 60 mph. It has an amazing range if ridden gently enough. It's not a tourer though as it has no pull in low or mid range when loaded up.
So how's it going so far then?

This bloke has alot of good videos on the DL250. He seems to like it for touring. I have done about 12,000 miles touring on mine and I think its OK. I've changed the gearing on mine and it can sit at 70 mph for long periods no problem

:thumb: crofty    I'm sure the bike is fine to tour alone and if you've adjusted the gearing it's a great and cheap distance muncher.

I tour 2-up for a few days camping so the 250 would not do what I'd want to do on my 650 but I have to admit that I've thought what I would ride if I can't manage trips away anymore.

Enjoy what you've got to the most!

Every time I see a 250 Strom I wish it was yellow so I could call it Stuart...
In the words of Rob Hunter of the Grateful Dead:
"what a long strange trip it's been"

I thought I'd just pop this one here too.

I have to be honest, until the new 800 DE is available and tested this is a fine bike to follow through it's infancy.  :thumb:

I must admit the 250 is the nicest bike I’ve had in a while, and yes, I’d probably prefer more grunt.
However it’s so easy to ride I feel like the bike does all the work, and I can still cruise at every legal speed limit with over 80 mpg economy.
So, totally agree with the above review, and thanks for sharing it.

Cheers :)

Hugh
