Oddly addictive viewing.
« on: December 16, 2022, 10:51:11 »
I feel the need to share yet another strangely satisfying collection of short films. Wood splitting wasn't the first thing that sprang to mind following Brockett's offering of water damaged vehicles last week, but on another level I personally enjoyed these.

The second film is proper edge of the seat stuff.....

Enjoy. :lala:

and also

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Apart from a couple of drive belts that could be better enclosed, I'm not seeing what the fuss is about...  :eusa-doh:

For me it would be the continuous action of some of those devices. "Ready or not, here I come" rather than the action requiring the operator to initiate it when safe and ready.

The death wheel is my favourite as well, I was impressed by the operators risk assessment regime.

1. Safety glasses to prevent foreign objects from damaging his eyes.

2. Ear defenders to dampen out loud noises.

3. Grey Crocs to enable fleet of foot should a lump of wood fly towards his toes.

I spent far more time than I should have done watching a steam-powered wood splitting device that was basically a large wheel with an axe head on it. Same principle as most of these, it relied on the person feeding it to have a good sense of rhythm. I saw it at a local show featuring agricultural machines at a small village in Finland, Sadly, I didn't take any pictures of it. It looked absolutely lethal, one false move and you'd lose half an arm.
