Heavy bar ends?
« on: October 09, 2022, 09:44:26 »
I'm looking for some advice to buy heavy bar ends, I always get numbness in my throttle hand on longer trips.
I'm picking up a set of grip puppies(?) and thinking between them and really heavy ends that will eliminate most of the vibration.

Any advice is great, thanks

Just try the grip puppies first.
My 650 is much improved with the puppies on. Although wasn't that bad before.
If you're fitting your puppies yourself I'd use the zip tie method, simples.

Grip Puppies are a god send, especially if you have large hands.
Also, unlikely, but check headset bearings as mine went out and caused epic finger tingling due to the tiny vibrations in the bars.

What model / age
Has it always done this
Check for a loose fixing:-  engine, crash bars etc.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

It might be worth checking the bar ends are fitted right too, mine weren't.

I used to get it massively on my old sv650, less so on a gs500, its an 18 plate, everything seems to be in great condition in all fairness and its only on longer rides.

I am using those. Combined with grip puppies they reduce vibe massively.
Over 500g each :)

I’ve got weighted bar ends ... and no vibes ..... and Oxford heated grips .... and no vibes .....

I bought the weighted R+G protection style ones and went back to standard as they're heavier and didn't give me the bad vibrations

Lead shot and silicon in the bars mainly solved my issues.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I put Barbusters hand guards on and added the weighted bar ends to them, only because I liked the look of them to finish the install.  🤣🤣. I have noticed no difference what so ever to any vibrations. Grip puppies I am a fan of having had them on 4 different bikes.  Takes a little longer for the heat with heated grips to permeate through.  But great.

These are excellent heavy bar ends if grip puppies are not enough 😊.
