Has this ever happened in the rain to anyone.....
« on: October 21, 2022, 09:41:46 »
Yesterday took the bike to work in really heavy rain which was all good, parked up got the top cover on and left 8 hours until I went home in the rain but much less than it was going to work.

Stopped as per the picture after my 25mile ride and noticed as I went to the top box with the ignition off and steering lock on that the rear lights were still on so I can only assume moisture/poor connection I have made possibly via the BigPie unit and camera unit/gremlin who knows but all I did to sort was turn ignition again and off for it to sort itself. Used again today in rain and no such problem.

Will be putting it away after tonight as won't commute on it anymore but use the odd occasion if weather allows and I get time in life, so will strip and look over it all while cleaning and protecting it again when I get a chance.

Thanks

Are you sure you didn’t turn the key to the “parking light” position accidentally.

Truth be told I didn't even know this bike had a parking light option, so will go out and check later haha

Thanks, it must be that.

At the end of my k6 Wee's life I could pull my main key out of the ignition in the on position, hand it to my mate at the lights and ride off, knowing full well he'd have to stop and put it in his pocket - I knew he wouldn't throw it.  lol

the spare key wasn't as worn and I couldn't do the same with it.

I'd left the parking light on a few times with the Wee, thankfully only when it was outside my front window and I noticed when it went dark and the charging lead went out the window to it then.

Just checked it there and 100% the parking light, cannot believe I have never even looked or took note of the little symbol.

Laughing at myself for never even considering it had this, must have been the darkness and how wet I was that made me think I must have created a bad connection somewhere haha

There are those that have never done it, but might in the future and those that have done it and may well do it again.

Oh! yeah they never use the steering lock except for that one time when the battery went flat and didn't trust it again.  lol

Easy done. In a rush to get to a good spot and watch the racing at KnockhillBSB a few years ago I turned the key to far and in no hurry back to the bike after the racing I returned to an empty bike park and a flat battery!
Circuit staff got me jump started and on my way slightly embarrassed.

To be honest, I think it's a little too easy to put the parking lights on when turning to locked position.  I do it quite often putting it in the garage as I have to lean over at a funny angle.

6 months of owning the 650 and I was still able to learn about it from using this site, a very good example of how you all can help any of us in need of answers.

I said goodbye to my K6 Wee in April 2015 - I'm still learning things about that model on here.  lol

In my bike to put the lock into parking position it is a big struggle and a lot of wiggling required. So I have never done it :D

I'm with pichulec. I've had the bike 9 years and think I've used the parking light position once. Today because I was working on it in the garage I thought I'd try the parking position, after 5 minutes trying I gave up!

Yes, we tend not to leave motorcycles unattended at night if we can, never mind drawing attention to their presence by lighting them up.
