« on: September 09, 2022, 16:20:48 »
Hi all, can anyone help me out my left hand grip has come loose which can impede full clutch pull as heated grip cable comes of the back of switch I thought of tightening the bar ends but no difference looked all around grip and cannot see any obvious place for a fixing point it’s a 2021 vstrom 1050 XT new to me it’s still under warranty but just thought it maybe something or nothing. Thanks in advance ATB 👍🏻

What's actually loose? Just the (heated) rubber handgrip?

Pull it off, clean up the handle bar and the grip, then put super glue on it and push it back on, making sure the cable is in the right place!  Very important to leave it a full 24 hours to set.  Super glue sets in a few minutes, but doesn’t harden fully for 24 hours, any use of the heated grips would impair the bond.

Easier said than done ....

Along with removing the bar weight and hand guard , You need to find and disconnect the plug that connects the grip to the loom in order to give enough slack to remove the grip from the bar.

Otherwise, the handle bars have to be removed from their clamps which in some cases, still isn't enough.

If I understand correctly you say the Rubber grip and the heater switch are moving.
Is the heater switch built into the rubber grip I.e. a one piece unit?
I would take it back to the dealer as it looks like it wasn't fitted properly.
If you fiddle with it in an attempt to fix and that doesn't work the dealer may well reject a warranty claim.
If all else fails .... can you inject some super glue under the grip?
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

There just glued on so you need to remove, clean and re glue. Be careful if using Super glue, if any drips out if will ruin whatever it drips onto.
Many years ago I had a lose left grip on a Yam rd400, kept saying I must fix that, pulled in for petrol, pulled the bike onto the mainstand, grip came off in my hand, bike ended up in a heap by the pump, one nicely dented tank!

My left hand one came loose, as said above, I just removed it, cleaned it & re-glued it.
Again, make sure it's lined up correctly before sliding it on & cover the tank/panels with a cloth, just in case.
But, in your case if it's still under warranty I would take it back for the same reason as Brocket states.

Hello

I had this problem a couple of months ago, just before a trip to Scotland.

All I did was put a drop of superglue between the flange of the rubber grip and the handlebar switch.

Its been there since, and I have no reason to re-do the job, whilst its doing its job.

Superglue will come off the plastic of the handlebar switch, with gentle persuasion.

Cheers
