Front Brake Discs K5
« on: September 07, 2022, 10:10:02 »
Hi all,

Its been a while. Bike has been parked up for a couple of years now due to work commitments etc. Now I want to get it running again. Need new front brake discs as it was an advisory in the last MOT and want to strip and refurb the calipers as well while I am at it.. Can you please recommend any good replacement discs? I have already had a look at OE and EBC. Is there any other alternatives worth considering? Bike is a K5 if that makes a difference.

Kind regards,
Kris

I recently bought EBC oem like brake discs. I can not say bad word about them so far. I hope they won't be rusting like oems which were on the bike for 17 years :D

Yeah EBCs are what I am looking at. Been using their pads from start and can't say a bad word about them.

@Youngman, the disc thickness is nearly at minimum, no won't be able to refurb them.

For my 1990 VX800 I got EBC discs from Sportsbikeshop. They cheaper than from EBC.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Just make sure you check prices before you buy. On my 2014 vstrom 1000 oe front discs or cheaper than EBC. 120 pounds each verses 140. With the rear it's the other way round. All three of mine are slightly warped now after 40k miles.
