Price advice
« on: August 23, 2022, 11:27:22 »
Not been on for a while due to "life" and the bike has been parked in the garage for a few years (mot ran out in 2019) so decided it's time to sell.
I've done a bit of research and prices vary wildly from £1200 to a rather optimistic £3500 for bikes of my vintage so thought I'd ask on here for advice on what I should be asking.
2006 DL650 about 20k on the clock, tyres, chain and sprockets done a few hundred miles and I will get a new mot before selling.
I was thinking about £1800 was a reasonable figure to ask for, what do you think?, cheers.

I reckon you are about right at £1800 if it has no ill effects from being stood.

Thanks for that, it's always been on an Optimate to keep the battery alive and I've run it every few months, checked the brakes not sticking etc.

I would have thought you would get a bit more than that. I'd try for 2 grand at least.  But then again I just tried to sell mine on gumtree, what a balls up that was. I removed it in the end. What do I need a car plus 2 grand that doesn't run or an electric scooter plus 2 grand!

I've had a few chancers, idiots etc. on Faceache market place, I was thinking of a classified ad on Ebay or Auto trader, although I'm not sure what sort of audience Auto trader has these days.

Sadly the reality is there's chancers everywhere nowadays,  every Muppet thinks they can buy cheap and sell at a premium!  Where abouts are you located?

Try an ad on Car & Classic. It is free and tends to have a more mature follower than facebook.

"Where abouts are you located?" - located in Birmingham, which reminds me I must update my profile.

Paid £1800 for my 2006 with 55K miles on it a few months back.
Did have full luggage and loads of extras like footpeg lowering, heated grips etc.

I'd give you £1800-£2000 now if I was looking :)
