Engine swap
« on: July 17, 2022, 10:12:59 »
I have a 2012 650 glee and have a small number of issues, my question is, is it poosible to replace my engine with a newer model one (ie. a 2021 engine).
I figure it would physically fit but would all the electricals all still work together including the ecm.
Its just looking cheaper (and easier) to get a used unit and swap them if they are compatible.
thanks for any advice.

What are your small number of issues ? Do they warrant a whole time consuming engine swap ?

The later 2021 engine will have small differences and although it may fit in the chassis, I'd imagine you'd need the entire loom and other electronics to go with it.

I believe with the extra electronics the newer models have the new new engine and loom may still not work without the newer ecu and dash, switchgear ect.

Thanks for replies, I kind of hoped the oily bits of the engine wouldn't have changed too much and could have run in the older frame.
My problems are with the gearbox and clutch areas and could have picked up a very low mileage 2021 engine compete for a good price.
