Do you have tools, a Multimeter?

Check your Kill Switch?

If you're sure the battery isn't charging then I guess you are past that stage, but they do catch people out.

Have you tested the charging on the bike or is it that you just have a flat battery?
You need to check the charging circuit, around 13.8 + volts at 3000rpm. If you're getting that then it's probably just a flat (or maybe faulty) battery.
If it's not charging then possibly a faulty regulator/rectifier or stator.
I also believe there is a problem with the magnets coming loose on the flywheel of that year bike?

A new battery has got to be worth a try. They do sometimes fail badly. How old is it, have you checked the battery leads, earths etc.
Beyond that I see a tow in your future.

Unfortunately in this model the common fault is faulty stator. I hope this is not the case, but if it is then it will be costly and time consuming repair, considering you are abroad. New battery for a start would be good idea.

If it'll start off a jump or a boost, try that.
Does the charge light go out?
Can you check what voltage is going across the battery at that stage, once running. I would have thought it'd be around 14V.

If the above advice doesn't solve the charging problem, then it may be worth having a look at the stator magnets. Chances are that you may require a new gasket after opening the stator cover.
Many first gen Vee owners have reported on stator magnet migration.  The solution to repair this stator migration, https://www.stromtrooper.com/threads/stator-magnets-jb-weld-pictures.400946/
The same stator migration was also reported by various SV owners, https://www.sv-portal.com/forums/5-tweaking-tuning-tricking/43261-magneto-magnet-repair-diy.html

I have essentially DL1000 K5 and when I bought the bike it also had migrated magnets. So +1 for above.
