Chain Guard Bolts
« on: May 26, 2022, 15:05:27 »
I went around my bike with a spanner the other day and found the rear chain guard bolt loose. I tightened it as tight as I could then yesterday went for a ride then found it missing when I stopped. I went online to find the size and was directed to "Stormtrooper". There was a discussion on the subject. it seems this bolt comes loose quite often. Strange? Anyway, it also told me the size is M6 10mm so I'm off to buy two in stainless steel and locktight them on.

Boring I know but, you may want to check yours. You wouldn't want your bolts falling off while you're having a ride would you!  :thumb:

I would get slightly longer bolts and put a nyloc nut as they come through the frame.

Weird, as mine too had fallen out after my last ride. I found a suitable replacement in my tin of nuts & bolts and put some thread lock on.

Must be a vstrom thing. Like the left hand bar end weight always being crooked after fitting hand guards.

Longer stainless bolts and stainless locknuts are the cure.I have done it on both my Wee’s.Plus I put a “penny” stainless washer under the bolt-head. Careful when tightening the bolt as it is going into aluminium, that’s probably why Suzuki only fit JIS headed screws on the chain-guard as you can’t tighten them as you would if it was a hexagon headed bolt.
