What a difference two inches makes…
« on: April 12, 2022, 23:40:56 »
I’m sure the ladies will agree, but what a difference two inches makes…

I liked the sitting position on the V1000, but after an hour or two in the saddle my back would feel a bit uncomfortable so I thought I would take a punt on some risers - but the question was whether to just go upwards or go up and back. In the end I went up and back and got some risers from fleabay for about 25 fuel chits. I fitted them this morning and I had no snags with the cabling. Quick and easy.

What a difference.

The strom is brilliant now. Even better than it was. It’s such a better position and because the bars are slightly closer, you feel as though you have even more control. And what’s better, making tight turns - like doing a u-turn - is a doddle now.

I’m kind of sceptical about things that bolt on, and I know that most of you have already fitted risers so I suppose I’m a bit slow to the party, but now I see why.

What a difference the risers make. I was grinning from ear to ear within 100 yds from home, as it feels so good.

I've got risers on both my bikes , wouldn't be without them now.

To me, it's an age thing, the older I'm getting the more upright and comfortable I need to be.

On my BMW, I can cover 500+ miles in a day with almost no aches and pains, great investment...

Be aware that they can be a problem if you use a tank bag.

I’ve only got a small one. A tank bag, that is….

Yes I agree regarding the Bar Risers. I've also fitted foot peg lowering kit - it's only an inch but really helps with the old knees.

+1 for what numptynut said. Without foot peg lowering kit my knees were in pain after 100+ miles. Now I can do 200-300 depending on my a.s.s, seat swap is next investment :)

Great! I have the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden (DL650 2019), with bar risers but standard seat.
However, my partner suffers with her knees a tad (she is quite tall), and I wondered if it is possible to drop the rear footpegs? Is there such an accessory?
