A quick update, in case it's of interest to anyone else with a similar issue.....
I spoke to my local dealer and booked the bike in for a diagnostic check. Meanwhile, I charged the battery with my Optimate charger as the bike had been stood for a couple of weeks. When I turned on the ignition later.....fault lights gone! I spoke to the dealer again (to cancel the service appointment), who said that it's likely that low battery voltage had caused the malfunction light to come on, even though the bike had started OK.... "We have the same issue with bikes in the showroom sometimes!"
Hopefully the 'issue' was nothing but an elderly battery in need of rejuvenation.
