Vee and Wee
« on: May 27, 2022, 23:46:03 »
Excuse my naivety, I'm guessing  that a 'Vee' is the big 'one and  'Wee' is the superior 650, right?  :stirpot:

An early 1000 is a Vee, the later ones are Veeks, the early 650s are Wees, a later 650 is Week :-)

I think I got that right :-)

I'm glad  stewmax1957 asked this question and thank you Gert for those links. I'm already starting to understand the jargon and thought I was almost there but after reading more, I realise I wasn't even close. Now my head is spinning.  :dl_hyperhysteria:.

My bike is a 2012 650 DL. There, now everybody knows so, when I talk about my bike, this is what I mean. If I ever change it, I'll let you all know. In case not everybody reads this please make it part of every post you all make on the site for the next 6 months and tell newbies when the introduce themselves. .  Sorted.

Nice day again today, short ride this morning to warm the engine then oil change. I'm not going to change the filter because I forgot to buy one but I changed it last time. Then I'm going for a mile or so to check for leaks then I'll ride it for the rest of the day to check it properly.  :thumb:

Thanks again for asking the question and to you Gert for the links.  :auto-dirtbike:

How about Big Strom & Little Strom, although I was looking at them side by side
Whilst waiting for my bike service the other day and in physical size there's not much in it.

There is history,  logic and tradition behind the nomenclature.

Now there was me thinking, I'd be wrong if I didn't call them . They, those, or some other such pronoun .

Let's not cancel the past.
But isn't that the fashionable thing to do now? I demand an apology and reparations for the suffering causes to generations of V-Stroms! Is there a statue somewhere we can chuck into the river?

There was a statue to Joe Lucas 'Prince of Darkness' but to save time Triumph owners can just visit it and press the kill switch

So, what does this make a DL250 - a mini wee?

Cheers :)

Nice to know they are so popular  :smirk:, but yes, it maybe shouldn’t be given the V-Strom moniker.
Anyway, after experiencing the gut wrenching performance of mine I should perhaps have gone for a 650.

Cheers :)
