2 connectors under seat ? - VStrom 650 2022
« on: August 03, 2022, 19:29:59 »
Hello forum,

I'm a happy owner of a 2022 VStrom 650, and I'm looking to create an auxiliary wiring harness for my gadgets (aux lights, wireless phone charger, etc). I'm looking for a 12v connector powered when contact is on, to control a relay.

I've found this two connectors taped to (what I suppose is the) diagnostic interface. This is under the seat, between battery and tank.

Does anyone know what these 2 connectors are and what they should power?

Thanks!!!

The best switched supply to use is the rear brake switch circuit which is located near your coolant reservoir.

Not sure what the connectors are but you could test them with a meter ...

Like others I picked up the rear light power lead (grey) on the rear of the cable run under the seat. It's relatively easy to find, identify and test.saves trying to delve into either the rear light cluster or the spaghetti of cables elsewhere. Relatively short run then to a relay which slots nicely in front of the battery box together with the remainder of the cables etc. I'm no electrician!! even I managed it.

Instead of messing with the harness which Suzuki told me they do not like whilst it is under warranty, buy yourself a Healtech Thunder box, as I did, it's so simple,  two connections, put positive and negative on the battery, that's it, will run 16 amp and as many accessories as you need up to that, and is fully auto switch on and off  through sensing charging voltage when engine starts and stops, It has a white wire which you ignore, brilliant bit of kit      https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264774386593?epid=23037459900&hash=item3da5c883a1:g:LHMAAOSwA6Be8yT6

Any difference between the Healtach version and the one made by Bigpie.

The Healtech one is auto sensing for voltage so it turns on/off with the engine (charging system) and doesn't need a switch wire.
BigPie relay uses the brake light switch and so turns on/off with the ignition but without the engine running.

Neither require cutting or splicing into the bike electrics but the Healtech one is battery connections only and I guess fractionally reduces the load on the battery at start up since it doesn't allow you to draw power until the engine is running. More money though ;)
