Do they still do "Q" plates? I brought an air cooled Beetle back from Germany where I bought it new and tax free when I was a soldier. When registering it, I was issued Q plates.

I think they do, but they'd still need an engine number if they think it's still an ic engine. And it'd probably need a sva or iva test first.

Take it up with your MP. Might as well make them earn their money & it's free.
Govt departments won't change anything quickly until they're told to by someone in govt or forced to by Courts

It's surprising how useful an MP can be (should always be ?) when you get them onboard. Well worth a try.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

It might be a gap in the relevant legislation too that needs amending - a bit like the mobile phone one that finally got closed last week.

Mp has written to DVLA, they sticking to it. I've found several others in the same position, all written to their MPs. My mp no longer responds to me.

Having filled in the form, v77 I think it was, not enough has changed for an IVA.

Someone has taken legal advice, and their opinion was the DVLA are interpreting the legislation incorrectly, but unable to afford to try get them to take action.

Dvla have said the tester needs to create a new record on Mot software and select electric, mine was tested as electric in September.

Insurance was a pain, only 2 companies would go near it, they don't care what the v5 says, only that it matches what I've told them. This may vary over company.

Aren't all these MPs raising the issue with Department of Transport/ Parliament?

I wonder if crowd funding to go via the courts might be an option?

They just write to the DVLA. The DfT have ignored my letters.

There is a bit of a crowd funder going on but it's a niche issue, fellas that's organised it has a company that converts black cabs, dvla changed their first few, then lately changed them back to diesel.

Its not such a big issue for me, don't have a ulez style area near it's just annoying to have the v5 say petrol.

With pre 2001 vehicles and motorcycles it's less of a hassle with the DVLA.

Next step is a TV Consumer programme. My friend and many others with the Ford ECO BOOST exploding engine, were getting nowhere with Ford, dealers, MPs etc until BBC "whatchdog" picked up on the problem and suddenly all the tossers who should have dealt with it woke up and in short order Ford sorted it out. My friend got a new engine installed. Then he sold the car and bought a KIA.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Not enough interest. We've tried to get journalists and even EV youtube channels interested, but nothing. It got a very brief mention on transport evolved a month or so ago, but that's it. I just send my v5 off again as soon as they reject it, maybe one time It'll get through.
