Sottoiler
« on: March 02, 2022, 13:25:58 »
Hi everyone.
I own a 2019 vstrom 1000 and would like to fit a scottoiler v system with a high capacity reservoir but scottoiler say you can't fit the reservoir. Does anyone know why?
Many thanks in advance.

I don't know for certain but I've often wondered if it's to do with the number plate no longer being lit properly if the plate moves but the light doesn't.
Scottoiler do also do the lube tube which might work for you to extend the range with something which will go under the seat or even in the sides of the tail unit

A post on Stromtroopers said the vibration caused leaking and emulsification of oil when mounted there. Also obscured the lamp. How far will a full standard reservoir take you?

As above ...

A standard reservoir's mileage is setting dependant.

Before my v-system gave up I'd get about 250 miles (two weeks commute) on a half open (5/6) setting

I usually get 500-600 miles per fill up with the standard reservoir.
I took a 300ml bottle of chainsaw oil and a pippet with me on a 2000 mile tour around Scotland.

you can buy a Scottoiler Traveler Expansion Bag that will tuck somewhere under the seat to add to the oil volume.

Why don't you save yourself a load of money and buy a Loobman kit.Does the same job for about 5th of the cost.I have had one for 7 yrs now with virtually no problems on 2 bikes.

Or a PD Oiler. I've had the 'mini' fitted to my 650 close to eight years now & it's been excellent. I have done tours of 3k miles on one bottle, it was always on the lowest setting on those trips, but the chain was still 'wet'.

Hi again folks. I got the hcr cheap so thought I would fit it to my bike. After googleing photos of the v strom I found a photo of a v strom using a hcr and it has a spacer of some kind between the numberplate light and mudguard. After speaking to a mate he thinks he could mKe a spacer on his 3d printer. I'll let you know how it goes.
