TomTom Mount Bar
« on: February 09, 2022, 19:18:38 »
Right. I fitted my tomtom rider today using the cheap 20 quid accessory bar assembley I bought off eBay.

What a load of crap the bar assembley is. I went for a quick 20 mile blast, and although the tomtom is in a good position, it wobbles around like it’s in jelly because the assembley is crap aluminium.

Could anyone recommend a good mounting rail? I want it above the dash, not mounted on the bars.

Also, I’m kind of wishing I bought the Garmin now as that seems to have a more sensible mount. That bloody big mount you get for the tomtom is not helping matters because it’s like the back plate is made of cast iron. Really strange.

Anyway, if anyone could recommend a good ‘unwobbly’ accessory bar for above the dash I would be grateful.

I bought one from these blokes, made of powder coated stainless steel and stiff as a board, the newer model, for your generation of bike, mounts off 4 bolts which will make it even stiffer still. I have ordered direct from them before but it was pre the Big Bad 'B' Word so can't comment on vat and customs issues.

* I had further issues with the TomTom mount vibrating due to slack in the mount itself where it allows rotation between portrait and landscape mode. I wrapped black insulating tape circumferentially around the join between the 2 parts and it's been far better ever since.
