Having decided that my K6 1000 was not as easy to ride due to onset of arthritis in my hands I decided to make my 2013 650XTA my main bike. I have done a number of 750 plus mile weekends recently and I have been more than happy. However, having upgraded the suspension on the 1000 I decided to do the same with the 650. I had to travel south last week so dropped the 650 off with MCT Suspension for a few. Days whilst I did some business in London. I had an Ohlins shock fitted together with stiffer fork springs and the bike set up for me. The difference, s I knew it would be from previous experience, is very significant and I am very happy. The bike glides along and you just have to point it at the corner and it does the rest.
Someone has commented in the past that VStroms are not Ferraris when it comes to Ohlins. However, the Ohlins was only £40 more than another brand of shock often mentioned on this forum. Comfort and all day rideability come at a bit of a price but for less than a grand all in with vat I now have a new bike. I will be riding through winter when I can given where I live but I have that grin on my face now as soon as I sit on the bike.
Roll on next summer.
