Higher seat for 2019 650 model uk
« on: May 16, 2022, 22:14:47 »
Hi All,
I'm getting confused looking at various fora and adverts.
I'm looking for a higher seat to be purchased in the UK for my 2019 650. I have been told previously that the 1000 higher seat would work but also been told that it won't. The Suzuki genuine article raises it by 20mm, which is not much, and I have seen one with a 35mm rise that is also much flatter without the dip at the front. However finding compatibility is my problem.
Definitive advice please on where I can get one and for how much. I already have the lowered peg kit.
I love the bike but get uncomfortable hips. I have an inflatable cover with elasticated straps but this catches on my pillions feet when she gets on making it more difficult for her.
Thanks in advance

This is the higher seat for the 650 I think: https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/Suzuki-parts/2017-dl650axa-v-strom-motorcycles/optional-high-seat ie p/n 4510028K61BGP

I tried googling that part number and it didn't get many hits but there are a couple on eBay for £170.

No other vstrom seat fits your model, yes the 1000 seat fits a 650 but only the first models like in 2006-8.
Suzuki make a tall seat but as you say it's only 20mm and Seat Concepts make one but you have to fit it yourself.
I also get sore hips and tail bone on my 2014 1000, I've tried 3 seats, footrests lowering kits, airhawks etc and still get it, I hope you have better luck than me!

Speak to Saddle Craft in South Shields, tell them what you want and they'll do it. They also make and fit their own proper gel pads.
I had it done on the Pan and it is unbelievable the difference that can be made but.......if weight is an issue think twice, the seats weigh a lot.
I will certainly be taking my seat their this winter if it turns into a keeper.
Good luck.

I've got the oem tall seat on mine, it's supposedly 20mm taller but I think it may be taller. There's a definite change to the seat area its much less scalloped making it easier to move forwards on the saddle as opposed to being sat in the scooped area on the standard seat.

Hers a couple of pics you can plainly see the different shape and flatter seating area.
