Clutch box issue
« on: October 15, 2021, 09:27:04 »
Hello blokes. I am about to buy a 2014 V-Strom. done my homework and loads of reading and I am convinced it's the right bike for me. However, while doing my research, I came across the issue related to the clutch basket (seems like it makes a knocking noise). Can anyone advise on this issue, if it is serious and should be fixed? Could it cause damage to other engine components? Is it something I should ask the dealer about? Many thanks.

Will not cause any damage whatsoever, the bike might not even have the trouble yet. It's more a loud rattle at tickover and a vibration from 2000-3000 rpm, it does no harm at all just annoying.
My bike was fine till 20k miles then the vibration started, others have no trouble at similar mileage. It's a £300 fix if it annoys you.
You'd probably be better of asking my dog than a dealer anything about it.

Thanks for that Porter! It'll give me peace on mind. And yes, you are right! Can you please ask your dog? lol
You think I can go wrong with a "014 model super accessorised with only 3.2k miles at £6000?

I don't think you can go to far wrong at that mileage just make sure the recalls have been done especially the ecu.
To be honest I would have said that price was a bit high, I'd offer 5k, try to meet in the middle.
