What are these KPH you speak of? Surely this nonsense and having to buy size 65 shoes was why I voted for Brexit?

You didn't, did you?

 lol
So how's it going so far then?

They will be for Josh then. He always has new shoes when he goes back to school after the big, summer holidays.

And it's off  to big school next term.

With plenty of growing room, one has to love Clark's for service.

Speed with luggage is also about aerodynamics.

I have 3 sets of panniers and they all change the handling of the same bike.

The biggest Kappa K960 are 44ltr and rounded.
Even though these hold the most crap and likely the heaviest they don't affect the handling as much as the old Givi E36 that are quite square.
The small Kappa K21 don't seem to affect much, they are small, boxy but with nicely rounded edges and lid.

Tyre pressures do need to be adjusted dependant on load and road surface.

I find I stopped blasting off at max speed to just get there and go the longer slower way to enjoy the ride rather make it a chore.

Riding on the enjoyable part, so why rush it?

For the same reason the Givi Trekker 46 introduces headshake on the 990. Take your hands off the bars without the topbox on and the bars are rock solid, put on the box & they start shaking. As long as I keep a hand on the bars then there's no issue at normal speeds, but I'm not sure I'd want to assume that's the same at 100+ with an instability like that.

We also can't travel there these days... so I have to go to France  :-x

If I'm not mistaken you have most if not all EU countries to ride in at the moment. That's a group Covid decision across member states (not Brexit).
So how's it going so far then?

It is not that easy. Even though I got my 2. shot Pfizer today, and even though EU has an idea of a "corona passport" letting all EU citizens travel freely if they have this corona passport, then real life looks different. EU can't really agree on anything which is why it is a circus to find out where I CAN go. There are lots of local rules overruling EU's idea of free movement. Borders has been closed since 2015 and corona has not made them more open.

Not even agreeing on which countries are "dangerous" are EU able to be.

I can understand, that UK citizens are allowed to travel to Antarktis?

I cross borders every day living in Sweden, working in Denmark, and the last year has been a living hell when it comes to crossing borders.

You are right bonne. Each country has it's own decision making authority (sovereignty!) to do as they feel they need or can, the EU does not have imposition powers in the pandemic, just a joint agreement, multilateral or bilateral. Every country has it's own opinions and therefore rules. At the moment I can visit my daughter in Germany without tests or quarantine.

Currently there is some difficulty with the UK over the EU Pass being recognised/equivalent with the UK version and vice-versa.
So how's it going so far then?

Yeah - Danish football fans are angry that they can go a see the match against England on Wembley

The quarantine rules kills that idea.

I appreciate this doesn't help you in anyway .. but I absolutely love driving through Germany. Our headquarters is near Stuttgart and I often end up driving a test car there and back. The autobahns are just a giggle every time :)

Porsche? Benz?

Anyway, I would give a hand on test-driving both for you.

I was riding at 90 ish mph on a VFR750. I leaned off on a tight (for the speed) right hand bend and the top box broke off it's mounting plate. I almost had a heart attack. The box was empty too.

I was hit in the Helmet by a big pigeon at 80mph
I hit a fecking pheasant between Pickering and Helmsley. Same speed, right shoulder on sports bike with missus on pillion. Bit of a shock, lots of feathers, missus going nuts. Slowed down, all OK - then I looked down. The bloody thing was on my leg cuddled up to the tank!

on my old K7 GT it was different speeds, with panniers and soft bag, panniers and top box, pillion or just a top box etc. I think the average comfortable motorway top end was 80-90mph before the bike started feeling floaty and a buffetting/ripple effect set in along with the Givi crash bars humming.
