Sorry this is a bit long. My 650 came with a Suzuki/ Sw Motech Alu 37L top box and mount. I decided I would like some Alloy panniers for camping and touring when rules permit and so I bought some 2nd hand ARD cases and fitted them to some quick release Givi racks that I bought from Sportsbikeshop. Yesterday I bought a pair of 2nd hand Givi E360N 40Ltr pannier/ top cases for £30 as I thought these may be more useful if using B&Bs or at friends etc.
Looking at my top box mount today, I wondered whether I could fit one of the Givi cases on the SW Motech mount and I realised the dimensions are the same. This would mean I could use my alu side panniers and the slight larger Givi top case (which my tent will fit into) when camping.
So for the sake of only some longer 6mm countersunk bolts the Givi parts can be fitted to the Suzuki / SW Motech rack (I have to take the Givi fixings off the pannier racks to fit the alu panniers). Method: take off the SW Motech stainless bobbins and turn them over and fit the Givi parts. The bobbin height is needed to clear the rack's domed mounting bolt heads although smaller spacers could be used.
I just need to find some rubber damping pads that will compress under the top box to stop vibration etc.
