Soft luggage
« on: March 06, 2021, 10:02:03 »
What type of soft luggage do people use on their 1000 (2014-2018) which fits without melting on the standard silencer? I'm looking for throwovers so I can keep the original cases for when I only need to carry sandwiches and a toothbrush 😁

I would consider something along the lines, similar to that explained on https://www.adventuretech.biz/saddle-bag-guards.html. With this type of system in place, you can choose any brand of saddle bag, without the fear of the saddle bag ending up in the rear wheel by accident. You may also want to have a look at soft luggage that hangs off the crash bars, to give that extra space for those times when out touring / camping. A tank bag and top box is also an option.
A typical example of making use of luggage carrying capacity for use on long distance touring, https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=35585.msg357376#msg357376 Have a look at the video in post #27 of https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=35585.msg357428#msg357428, for advice on the front pannier racks.

I have Givi and Tech7 soft bags but the problem is without any sort of support they rest on the exhaust and swing into the wheel on the other side.
I made my own supports, but there not the best, if I was doing it again I'd get the new Cosmo ones.

Hi All,

I am after some luggage suggestions for my Vstrom 1050XT and I tend to lean towards soft luggage. I particularly like Kriega gear and have used SW-Motech too (although I consider SW-Motech over-priced), but they do not seem to do anything for the VStrom. I have also noted Motea.com stock Bagtec. Is Bagtec any good? What is recommended? Thanks in advance.
