Battery Removal
« on: January 02, 2021, 14:30:53 »
Hi all and Happy New Year. Easy question but I'm not sure of the answer. "If I remove the battery from my 2012 650 V-Strom, do I have to mess/reset anything other than the clock when I put it back on?"

Thank you in advance for your knowlage.  :thumb:

Just remember the golden rule when working on batteries, NEGATIVE off FIRST,and back on LAST= no accidental shorts to earth with your spanner.

Snap a pix of the battery terminal orientation. It makes it easier to reference on install a few months later.

I made the mistake of connecting the negative first on my Laverda, 30 amp hour across my watch strap, through the spanner, and shorted to the frame. 😳 got hot real quick and welded the watch strap closed so I couldn’t get it off, had to rush inside and run it under the tap to cool down!
Won’t do that again☹️
That was nearly 40 years ago, still have the watch and it still works 😁
