I don't think it will
K4-6 were single plugs per head 16bit ecu
K7-L1 were twin spark with 32bit ecu.

You would need an engine within your bikes model year range.

Twin spark sv650 engines will fit...easier to source I would think. As long as you keep the throttle bodies etc from the dl.

Hi

Thanks for the info, and I finally got around to replacing my V Strom engine.  :lala:

Thought I'd post some feedback in case anybody was thinking of doing the same engine replacement.
Post 2007 all V Strom DL650 were twin spark, so in a nutshell a second generation engine drops straight in or rather straight up into my first generation 2010 V Strom.
Though there are some issues post installation, first off the clutch assy is different, this was easily fixed by replacing the clutch cable with new version.
The engine drive sprocket cover also had to be replaced due different mounting also due to the clutch.
Finally the, oil cooler is now water cooled (previously it was air cooled), I was able to purchase the hoses and a fitting easy enough, to correctly plumb.

Any questions feel free to ask.....

Just one question from me, if I may...
What happened to the original engine to necessitate a change?

Did you snap any pix during the build? Which model engine did you use in the transplant?
