But mine are black, & it looks silver underneath.
Did they do that deliberately, to confuse you when you come back to your bike & find its not there.
But in reality the bikes changed colour.   :icon_wink:

I've now put red rim tape on my wheels, so I know which bike is mine.

Well fancy that:-  The tape arrived today and guess what? It's not a roll of tape !    It is a long strip of tape that is folded over a goodly number of times (and can therefore be shoved into my letter box (no smutty inuendos please).

The rim tape I bought was curved strips too. I tried a roll version but it didn't go well, so I used some Anglo Saxon phrases and binned it.
Old enough to know better, but still too young to care...

I had a fun time applying this tape to my SV's forks. I washed them, and cleaned then off with pre paint wipes. Still the bloody stuff did not want to stick. As a last resort I gave it some heat with a hair dryer and that instantly persuaded it to comply.  I did not get any instructions with the tape but Youtube came to my rescue.

Whatever you do, don't heat the tape.
It lifts the paint off, just before you sell the bike....
