1st Time & No Power to Ignition
« on: May 09, 2020, 18:59:48 »
Hello my UK riders - Your Canadian rider needing some help.  I just charged my battery and ready to ride - turned on the ignition - power on for a few seconds, then nothing.  Re charged battery - no power to ignition.  Check the ignition fuse and replaced with spare - no power.  Do you think I need a new battery??  2011 650 DL - not much of a mechanic, so any help would be great - thank you !!

Just double check the battery cables are tight. If they are, if it is an original battery then I would be tempted to suggest it is dead.

Do the lights come on?
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

That's not an intro so I am moving it to the general section as more members will see it here.

I suspect Tallpaul has given you the right answer.

You can always use jump cables to connect it to your car or other motorcycle (I've tested that way my battery on '12 650). If you get the power that way then your baterry is gone for good.
