A simple thing like mirrors!!!
« on: April 27, 2020, 22:13:44 »
My mirrors on 2017 650 are slightly in front of the handle bars, when surely they’d be better set further away.  If they were swivelled further away and the mirror heads twisted further towards the rider then surely the wind would be deflected outwards, not onwards towards the rider??
So in an attempt to educate myself and others I thought I’d do a trial and see what effects it has!
FAILURE!   Can’t even undo the mirror locking bolts!! OMG they are so tight I’ve started to strip the lock nut spanner threads!!   :icon_exclaim:
They won’t move!  Any bright ideas on how to free them?
Never too old to ride!

If you're used to the way the mirrors are mounted on the NT700 they are very different. If you do a search on here for buffeting you will drown in opinions and advice on different screens, alternative mirrors, mirror extenders and so on to manage airflow around the rider. I'm not sure if the latest Strom has a left hand threaded mirror on one side.
Old enough to know better, but still too young to care...

You may find a solution to the mirror removal on: https://www.stromtrooper.com/threads/mirror-construction-involves-left-hand-threads-on-2012-650s-and-2014-1000s.113233/
Mirror extenders are an option to give a greater shoulder width adjustment, while solving some of the buffeting problems. Do a search on this site or on google for more info. A few typical examples from this site, https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=5027.msg39549#msg39549 and https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=12880.msg110860. Some members don't like the mirror extenders while others do.

I have cheap chinese mirror extenders. They are now on my 3rd V-Strom, the same pair. I said that because they were so cheap on eBay and after 9 years they are still doing their job. And yes, they move mirrors away as you like and also give you better line of sight behind you.
