Fuel Hose
« on: April 27, 2020, 14:15:40 »
Hello, anyone familiar with fuel hose ratings?  Picked up some hose this morning from Halfords, it has stamped on it, 'FUEL HOSE SAEJ30R6 5/16" HFH402P'.  It looks like the hose I have taken off, it has the same reinforced stitching through the middle of it, just slightly concerned it has no reference to be OK with fuel injection systems stamped on it.

I am using it to replace the little hose on the throttle bodies than has been on / off leaking for past few months

Any thoughts?

That short pipe was leaking on the Vee I bought last June.

I bought this high pressure fuel hose from Vehicle Wiring Products:-

CODAN 3133 SAE J 30 R9 FKM-NBR-CSM FUEL HOSE  7.9mm ID  61M22

But I didn't use it as when I took the tank off with the intention of replacing it, it looked as if the crimp clips securing it weren't tight enough - I could rotate the pipe on the stubs between the throttle bodies.

So I cut the crimp clips off (with good side cutters) and replaced with proper fuel hose clips (not jubilee clips) - problem solved.

Just want to endorse Vehicle Wiring Products. They are in Ilkeston,Derbyshire.I used to work about 100 yds.away from their works and I have to say they are one of the best companies we ever dealt with for ANYTHING to do with fittings, wiring, relays, pipework, tools, etc, etc.Have a look on-line,they will send you a catalogue in the post also.So knowledgable and helpful.
I must add I have no tie up with them at all, we were just very satisfied customers.

+1 for VWP. That's who I buy my wiring kit from.

As Pete mentioned above, look for SAE J30 R9 as it's designed for fuel injection and also Ethanol resistant.

Thanks all.   Spoke to a very helpful chap at the Ilkeston shop earlier.  Length of hose in the post today.  Seemed really helpful.  Bear them in mind for future reference.  Thanks for the heads up.

cb1300rider - you'll need the proper fuel hose clips to go with it.

That tube is quite stiff (hair dryer or hot air gun to soften it up) and the length is short between the throttle bodies, hence why I left it as it was and just fitted the clips.

I got the correct clips already, proper hose clamps not jubilee clips.
The original piece came off quite easy, the top coating seemed very powdery.  Literally only need a couple of inches but minimum length a metre!  Oh well, more on hand for next time or anyone here who needs a bit.
