givi rp3105
« on: March 02, 2020, 18:10:50 »
Hello
I posted earlier on the vstrom site for advice on torque settings for the bolts that need to be refitted on both sides of the engine with new brackets for the RP3105 givi bash plate. As usual givi give no advice on required torque settings. I had a few replies pointing toward 9.6/10nm for the bolts which are around 6mm.
I checked various sites and came across descriptions that seemed to apply that indicated 10/11nm so have gone ahead with a 10nm setting with thread lock.
I am looking for definitive settings by way of a manual if possible ? - do we have a link here or can someone specifically confirm 10nm is fine ?.
just piece of mind I guess. Bike is a vstrom DL1000 xt 2019 - yes and its yellow ??

In my VZ800 manual it shows general torque settings as follows:-
6mm bolt    (that is the thread width)  apply 5.5NM for normal bolts or those marked "4" .
For bolts marked "7"  apply 10 NM.
Take great care when screwing into alluminium.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

I your referring to the M6 bolts that go into the engine then it is 11Nm. that's from the DL1000 service manual and SW-Motech fitting instruction for their bash plate.
