Replacement 1000 engine for an 02
« on: September 25, 2019, 18:59:15 »
I'm on the look out for a replacement engine for my 02 1000 but I'm not sure what years will fit. I've searched and I've read that an 02-07 will fit, other places 02-04. Can anyone give me the facts?
Cheers

I'll have a guess on this one. Engine wise, I think that the 1st gen engines will fit the current mounting position in the K2 frame. However there where some changes to the ECU systems, so a wiring harness replacement along with the necessary upgrade hardware would be required for the engine replacement. Perhaps googling Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 wiki, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_V-Strom_1000), may help identify the differences in the upgrades vs the year of upgrades?

Find an SV1000 lump and chuck that in instead. Would be a hoot! (You'll need ECU and loom)
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.
