2020 1000 V-Strom?
« on: September 05, 2019, 10:54:51 »
Chaps - I note in a recent Suzuki press release for next years models, there's no mention of the 1000 V-Strom, 650 is there but no 1000! Interestingly the same is true I see ref the BMW S1000XR, and the speculation there is that there's a facelifted model due out. Could we assume the same for the 1000 Vee or is it discontinued? Madness if so in my mind - I've a new one this year - 6000 miles done so far and love it to bits! Seems crazy to kill it.

Any comments or news on this? Thanks for any news.....

I saw something yesterday that suggested this was for the USA and not here. It may well be true here too though.

The theory was that the DR650 is being revived and may have a 1000 model in that range.

Just read an article from Bennetts insurance which said the DL1000 is still the most underated motorcycle in the country. Bet she is not being discontinued.
Do it today as there may not be a tomorrow.

If only the DL1000 could have a facelift (beak removal) so some of us could could own one again  :thumb:

Yes I agree...... I've waited 4 years on it 'losing the beak' but I've given up, it looks like it's here to stay  :bawl:

So today I've asked the (not so) local dealer for a part ex figure on my Tiger against a new DL1000.

Miss my old V-Strom more than I thought I would.

This the rumoured DR1000. Basically a DL1000 with altered plastics. It looks adventurous...

My four eyes doth spot a 1200 badge. At this rate they'll soon be able to keep up with a KTM 790  :stirpot:
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I wouldn't worry .
By the time the KTM reaches its peak power it'll explode or all it's bits would have blown off.  :stirpot:

It's a moot point anyway as Suzuki discontinued the V-Strom at the end of 2011.

Interesting. I'd be suprised if it is delisted. I mean, there's already no Busa, GSXR600,750, and now only 1 650 strom? Their line up is alreadys sparse by comparison to most other manufacturers - taking out another would be suicide.
As for the Dr Big1200 -  I doubt we'll ever see that - (though 1188cc is possible with this engine). Suzuki are not that bold. New Katana proof in point.

The recent spyshot images did show a 1K with new beak style and some strange blackboxes attached to the left hand engine cases. Which I hoped was new VVT system they patented for the 1K lump - meaning there's more to come. But with Suzuki you never know.
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.
