dash vibration
« on: June 17, 2019, 09:25:44 »
morning folks I have an annoying vibration on the dash of my 2009 DL650, it seems to be from the top of the dash were the clock faceplate meets the main housing as when I press here the vibes stop, as the face is fastened with those plastic pop out studs there’s nothing to really tighten up, has anyone else had this issue and is there a simple solution

Have a look at this ..... https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=36535.msg368584#msg368584

I think you would probably have more issues than you are reporting, but maybe it is just starting to loosen?

yea I did check those when I noticed that post a while back.
Definitely just a loose dash face, I can actually wiggle the top of the dash face it appears that there is only two plastic fixings one at each side and the middle uses a plastic lug which seams to have become weak over its 34k of mileage, stationary at 4K you can see it vibrating as it’s not flush,

Maby a dab of superglue along the top edge will cure it 😂

Would a dab of clear or black silicone be better, if it stops the vibes it would certainly be easier if you ever need to get behind the dash.

To stop plastic vibrations as said , silicone or you can use the glue from a hot clue gun , the glue sticks come in all colours these days .

Clue gun? Colonel Mustard, in the library, with the revolver.

cheers for the suggestions folks will give that a try, a bit of black silicone/glue should do the trick 👍
