Raising the front mudguard
« on: June 04, 2019, 12:56:52 »
My bike 2017 DL1000 AL8) is currently wearing Mitas E07 boots, so the clearance between mud guard  and tyre is reduced, so on loose roads stones are catching. I found a company in America that does a "mudguard Riser kit", but the postage is as much as the kit. Anyone know of a UK supplier, or a DIY way of doing it.

Was the US company 'Adventuretech'? Cos they do one.

Touratech here in UK used to do extenders (I think), but now do an expensive replacement higher mudguard instead HERE

The Touratech mudguard is not for the 2014+ DL1000 as it isn’t designed for USD forks.

Gassoon: Yes it was the Adventure Spec one I was looking at.
Have to see if I can bodge something. will need to extend the brake pipe than runs over the top connecting the two calipers, but was thinking of fitting braided hoses any way.

I've got the set from the States and it gives good clearance for knobblies. Eldest was over there a few years ago and he got a set  :lala:

I didn't do anything with the front brake pipe itself - I just removed the pipe from the clip that holds it to the mudguard, removed the clip from the mudguard and covered the hole left by the clips removal with electrical tape. Not had any bother with it.

You can live more in 5 minutes on a bike... than some people will live in their whole lifetime (Burt Munro, World's Fastest Indian)
