Economy Energy and Doctor Who
« on: January 04, 2019, 11:11:01 »
I've been with Economy Energy for both Gas and Electricity since July of 2017. I was pleased to note that since then there have been no price increases. Their website can be a bit awkward and inputting meter readings leads to more doubt than certainty, but they sort it out eventually and everything works quite well. Then today they sent a text saying that their tariffs (which, whimsically, they refer to as "my tariffs") are changing as of 31 July 2018.  Really? A rift in the space time or just some 16 year old work experience playing with their computer?  I phoned their helpline. 4 minutes of options and pressing keys later they say they are experiencing very high call rate and maybe it would be better if I called the another day? Maybe they mean Sunday when they are shut.
I run a spreadsheet on which I record all meter readings since 2010 I have to change the rates from time to time but it is generally accurate to within a few pence. I wonder why I can do it on clockwork excel and they all seem to muck it up on whatever they use.

Here's a hint for you :smirk::

If I were you I'd be bailing out of that mob sharpish before they go to the wall and cause you more grief.    I was with them for a 12 month contract about a year ago, and they were absolutely shocking. Non-stop aggravation with meter readings and standing orders....  :angry-banghead:

I am switching. What really shocks me is that a search of a number of comparison sites shows British gas to be the cheapest. Although they are all 35% more than I pay now.
Economy energy replied to my email with the excuse that it was a typo and the rates were changing from 1st  January. So it was notification after the fact, (Tossers)  So much for 30 days notice of price changes.

They have a £180 of my cash built up in the summer and autumn to off set the amount I use in the winter and spring.
Goodbye money  :bawl: :bawl: :bawl:

According to the article my money is safe. Whatever that means. Probably means it won't eaten by the Bloodbatter beast of Traal. I doubt I'll get it ( # pessimists are seldom disappointed)

Don’t change suppliers yet,you will be moved automatically to another provider in a few days, they will sort the refund and then you can change if you want. How do I know,it’s just been on the Martin Lewis Money Show.

I started the switch process on 4th January so I don't know if I need to let it go or try to stop it.

My gut feeling would be to cancel it...there's a cooling off period for switch services, I know Uswitch give you 14 days...
