Radiator for 2013 glee
« on: December 23, 2018, 17:04:01 »
Got a stone fly up and smash my rad. Coolant dumped everywhere. I have been looking for second hand strom rads and Suzuki Gladius rads but nothing comes up.
Does anybody know where I can get hold of an aftermarket rad that will have similar mounting points or is anyone breaking a vstrom?
Cheers
Mark

Sorry to hear that, a lot of us fit rad guards to avoid the £600 cost of a replacement.

The SV/Gladius rad will not fit - the DL rad is specific to the the model bike you have.

The k4-L1 rads will not fit, neither will the Current model or the ones for either model DL1000 (going by your avatar)

There are places that will repair rads - but you'll need to search local to you- should come in a fair bit cheaper than new replacement.

The part you are looking for is 17710-11J00-000 (rad alone - using all existing mounts, cap and bolts)

This is very out of date but many years ago I had the same problem with a 350 Powervalve. I looked around for a repair and found a bloke in Bagshot, Surrey that wrote it off as unrepairable, but then actually built me a new radiator for under half the price of the Yamaha part.
I should think that fella is long retired but presumably the idea may still hold some water :thumb:.
Perhaps a look through the MCN classifieds might find you someone.

Thanks blokes. I have removed it and think I might be able to just pinch closed the broken coolant lines and weld them shut. Means the rad has lost about 25% flow of coolant but in the UK the hottest it ever gets is 35 degrees so I guess it'll work. I will call up some local repair places and get a quote too. cheers
