Starting problem
« on: December 16, 2018, 16:12:30 »
Hi blokes not in correct section but need a bit of help,
Was on a bike run today pulled into a garage turned of the wee and when we went to leave she wouldn’t
Start.
The temp gauge reads hot and she’s cold with a CHEC icon on clock, the bike turns over well but just won’t fire
Done all the rudimentary checks but can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong
The bike has thatcham alarm would that have any bearing on the problem

Sounds like the immobiliser on the thatcham Alarm has a problem, if it was running before.
I could be wrong but could be the kill switch, as well or the kick stand switch, I take it you have looked at all these things. :thumb:

Thanks lads,
Breakdown man arrived and got it started with a jump , he reckoned it could be a battery problem, anyhow driving home  bike starting losing power so pulled over and she cut out and would not start again showing same characteristics as before . So got it picked up and dropped to a mates shed where she now is awaiting repair, my instinct tells me its the datatool system 3 alarm playing up,  but who knows . To be continued ....

If your bike was jump started and it broke down before you reached home I'd suggest it's a battery / charging issue .

Hi KB, Just  put a new battery in her , it's still immobilised . I will have to get my mates to look at the datatool system 3 next as this is above my paygrade

Hi Gert, Thanks for the info, we think it could of been due to a weakened battery which caused the  datatool alarm to immobilise the bike.  Anyhow we have fitted a new battery , disabled the alarm and bike is starting and running normally, going to purchase a lock and chain , alarm system was a right pain in the nads and I'm glad to see the back of it.
Thanks
Pat
