New Impact Driver
« on: October 28, 2018, 19:25:17 »
I already own a cordless impact driver, but I'm damned if I can find it! It's only a Parkside Aldi one, but it did a reasonable job until I left it too long and the Li battery got too low & wouldn't take a charge any more. A while later, I stripped the battery pack & rebuilt it with bigger cells, only to realise that I can't find the driver itself. It should be in the garage, but it's better at hide & seek that Saddam turned out to be...

After one last search yesterday, I picked up this today:

Toolstation has them on special just now at £80 under list - still just about £160, but it chucks out 200+NM of torque. Off to the garage to try it out...

It does prompt a serious question Mr Nick. Do you have need of one at that price (£80 off but still £160) that it is worth it?

Most bike stuff is 50NM max. apart from axles and sprocket. Have fun playing with it............200NM, you must be rebuilding a lorry!
So how's it going so far then?

I'm going to be starting the winter job on the Spada 3 soon and some 30 year old nuts & bolts can take a bit of removing as I've found on previous rebuilds: 50NM + 30 years = a shed load more! And this one has 3 different settings so not intending to need the full beans all the time.
I wanted a decent one as the old one struggled from time to time, and at least £100 was needed for that: this was about the best all round with the power & 2 batteries.

Great tool to own, just make sure the batteries are kept regularly charged.

I'd love a garage full of 'easy off' kit like that. For me it was a scaffold pole on the sprocket of my 30 y.o. GPX in the week but strangely the engine bolts were easy! Have fun!  :thumb:

Enjoy. :thumb:
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Hmm, it's not working now... The LED light on it comes on when you press the trigger, but it's not turning. Charged the battery but still no dice.

Odd thing to say, but I'm happy in a way.
