Had the new radiator guard on Saturday and fitted it Sunday afternoon. Connected all the electrics back up and the pipework to the radiator then replaced all the plastics with no pieces or fasteners left over
Leaned back to admire my work and put my hand on the expansion tank that was lying on the work bench

Top job

I've got to sort out the under tray now as half of it has melted on to the exhaust. Are they the same pattern for all years or do I need a 2008 one?

Update. I've been so long finishing the job that the front brakes are seized
Bought a new seal kit from M and P and stripped and cleaned and reassembled everything tonight. Hopefully MOT this week

Glad you got it sorted, my reason for rear coil not firing is still evading me but for reference the coils can be changed with only taking the long side panels off. Bit fiddly getting onto the 8mm bolts but easy enough.

Thanks bandit I'll bear that in mind for next time. The bike failed. Too much play in front wheel bearing so another trip to MangP for new bearings and a tutorial on youtube. I also had a look at the 20 mms bar risers. The finish looked OK so they came home too
Bearings were done today and the bobbins on the discs were freed off. If I finish work in time retest monday. I've also got my dr800 booked in for 4pm monday

MOT at 2.30 for vstrom -passed. MOT 4 pm for dr800 -passed
. Went for a spin on Sunday to make sure everything was OK. From Ammanford to Lampeter for breakfast and then on to Machynllech via Aberystwyth for coffee and cake. Came back on the mountain road through Dylife to Staylittle past Llyn Clywedog. This must be one of the best roads in Wales. Then Llanidloes Rhayader Beulah Llandovery and home. 195 miles and no problems so might go for a long ride next weekend
