A quick question 're removing the tank
« on: November 18, 2018, 12:01:20 »
Hi all,

I just have a quick query. I removed the tank for the first time yesterday. When I was putting it back on I noticed that the 2 hoses on the left side had an extra tube attached to them.

I could not see anything under the tank to connect it to and I am pretty sure I did not disconnect it.

Does anyone have any ideas what it is for and where it goes.

Thanks

Matt

Generally if there are 2 one will be the breather for the tank and one will be a drain tube for water that would otherwise sit around the fuel cap and then go into the tank when the cap was opend.

Update your profile with the year model of your bike and we can be more accurate when knowing what bike model you have

The one that has a 'Y' joint only attaches to one of the points on the tank, with the other hanging loose. There's a separate hose that connect to the larger connector on the tank.

Like this, just don't kink it when putting the tank back like the mechanic who did mine did.  :fix:

my dealer kinked a hose on mine too. I rode 330 kms and stopped to fill up - the tank cap wouldn't open until I forced it and the sides of the tank where drawn inwards. Had to finish another 500kms with the tank open.
(Luckily they were able to pressurise it out again)

Bloody Eck, I've done 160 miles since I put the tank back on so I am presuming it is OK. I may just check the fuel cap today to be sure.
